Do I need chains to drive from Carson City to Tahoe ski resorts?
In active winter weather, yes, unless you have 4WD/AWD with snow tires. Nevada and California enforce chain controls on Spooner Summit, the Mt. Rose Highway, and other passes. Check nvroads.com before driving.
